When disciples dare to dream
That phrase can strike fear in all of our hearts and minds as we consider all the things that could go wrong in our world, especially when it comes to our finances and families. Security is one of our basic needs, and thinking about all the “what if’s” can cause panic and anxiety when we think about future plans. But what if the “what if” question wasn’t as much about fear, but about possibility? What if when we trust God, He can do far more with what we give, in our lives and in the lives of others, than we could possibly imagine or do on our own? Join us for our series, WHAT IF…?, where we’ll be imagining what God would do through us if we would really trust Him with what He’s blessed us with.

They called him Messiah, the Lord, the Savior, Emmanuel, the Word made Flesh and the Light of the World. This Advent we'll explore the meaning of these titles and what they tell us about the child whose birth we celebrate at Christmas. We live in incredibly muddled times where we refuse moral absolutes, justify attitudes and practices that are clearly destructive and build idols-literal and figurative- to the false gods of self-fulfillment, social approval and situational ethics. Though we are called to be gracious and loving, Christians are equally called to stand firm for the Truth of Christ and Christ’s Way, no matter what the rest of the world thinks. In this series we’ll explore some of the places traditional Christianity gets opposition from our secular opponents and discover ways we can graciously push back for the faith and offer real clarity.

The Air In Our Lungs
The essential art of entire prayer
Life requires us to take air into our lungs so that it can be turned into energy to make our bodies function. Prayer works the same way…prayers are the “lungs” that pull in God’s life-giving Spirit. But too many of us take dangerously shallow breaths. Following our encounter with the Spirit at Pentecost, we’ll spend the next few weeks improving our prayer life with some foundational prayer practices and learn to pray with our entire selves, reaching to and receiving God with our whole hearts, minds, souls and bodies.

Adventures in the Vital Art of Evangelism
“You will be my witnesses,” Christ tells his disciples in Acts 1:8. The word “evangelism” literally means “to tell good news” and those of us who know Jesus are therefore meant to be enthusiastic announcers of the good news of Jesus in our lives. Yet we are often hesitant to talk about our faith or to share our testimony. Sometimes we simply don’t know how. In this study for the Easter season, we’ll explore some practical ways to organize our personal witness, share our own faith story and how to graciously invite others to experience the joy of a relationship with Christ. Join us as we help each other shout the good news.

Seeing clearly through the Gospel of John
“I am the Light of the World,” Jesus declares in John’s Gospel. But what does that metaphor mean in our daily lives? Beyond the imagery and symbolism, John’s story of Jesus draws a stark line between the clarity of clear discipleship and the hopelessness of trying to make sense and direction out of a dark world. We are called to be disciples in, and evangelists to, a world that seems Hell-bent on staying in the dark! This Lent we’ll ask how Jesus illuminates our lives and how we live them as well as the ways we are tempted to simply stay in the dark. In this season of sacrifice and reflection we will challenge ourselves to choose the Light.

Spiritual Practices for a Healthy Life
Life is all about rhythm. From the regular beating of our hearts to the cycle of the days and seasons to our schedules and deadlines. But what is it that sets those rhythms and what keeps the beats by which we move through life? We begin our year of “Putting First Things First,” by re-setting our spiritual metronomes and developing nine essential spiritual practices that God gives us to keep us in synch with God’s symphony of life. Some of these you may be familiar with while others are either new or need restructuring. All of them are vital components for full and abundant Christian living.
